5 For Friday!

Here are some tips and tools from the week that have helped our family and team.

1. Mental Health Tip from Dr. Shahana Alibhai

Imagine for a second a giant “Wheel of Fortune” type wheel in front of you with words like “joy”, “surprise”, “play”, “contentment” on it.

Now imagine I spin this wheel every morning for you and whatever word it lands on, you must actively look out for this feeling throughout your day.

It’s easy to tell people just to ‘be happier’ or ‘think better thoughts’ but the truth is – life engulfs us. Unless we are PROactively looking out for an emotion or consciously trying to capture a feeling, it often fleets by.

Try this on your own. Write a list of feelings that you want more of in your life - maybe 10 or 20. Each morning close your eyes and randomly pick one and consciously cultivate this is – make it happen. You will be absolutely amazed…just like I was.

2Clothing Drive Update: We are collecting gently used clothes and basic toiletries in partnership with the non for profit NightShift Street Ministries to support those who need it. Donate today until May 31st. We are grateful for your support!

3. Fennel Tea: I’m drinking this tea twice a day after meals. It’s sweet, non-caffeinated and soothes the stomach and aids in the digestive process. Likely found cheaper at grocery stores.

4. Working Out: Is lifting heavy things considered working out? Yes it is! You don’t need to go to the gym to get stronger.  Lifting heavy garden pots, turning soil, mowing the lawn (preferably without the push motor) are all great examples. Fear-less, it’s the small awkward things we do everyday that hurt us like picking up a pencil that create more strains.

Have a blessed weekend.

Be well and Be great,
