Here are some tips and tools from the week that have helped our family and team.

Mental Health Tip From Dr. Shahana Alibhai:
We have all heard about multi tasking, but how many of us know what multi-thinking is? I do – not just because I coined the term but because I’m guilty of this all the time. Multi thinking is appearing to be doing a single task when your mind is actually “pin-balling” all over the place. In essence you look calm on the outside but inside your world feels chaotic as you juggle your never ending “to dos”.

What can be done? First recognizing this is key. When you’re having a conversation are you actually listening or are you too busy thinking of something else?

Now if I find myself with a few extra minutes whether it be waiting in the Starbucks line or waiting for the kids at pick up, asking myself this question has changed everything “Will I pick peace or productivity?” Will I choose keeping my mind still even for a few seconds or sending off that last email – it’s still a work in progress but I’ve learned…that email can often wait…

Exercise: Split Squats are an excellent way regain mobility in the hips while strengthening the legs. Improved mobility in the joints means less back, hip and knee pain. Give it a try, there is a progression for almost everyone.
